What Makes Digital X-rays Different?

One of the cool things about digital X-rays versus traditional ones is that they don’t require physical film. They work pretty similarly to the camera on your cell phone. Once the image is taken, it is transferred to a computer where the image is uploaded rather than developed on film.

Since they are a computer image, the result is instantaneous! The X-ray is also a clearer image than its traditional counterpart, and we can even zoom in or blow up sections of the picture without sacrificing image quality.

Do Digital X-Rays Produce Radiation?

Digital X-rays are still an X-ray, so they do produce a small amount of radiation. That being said, they produce much less radiation than the traditional version! It is thought that digital X-rays produce about 80% less radiation for the digital images versus film ones.
